Current favourite Lip & Eye combos

Hello everybody! First of all I have a big fat apology to make.... You may have noticed that I have been MIA for quite a while now and the only excuse I can give is that since I've come back to university for my 3rd year I have really been working my arse off and trying so hard that I just got into a bit of a non-blogging cycle :(
I'm back now, and I can't promise that my posts will be as regular as they used to be, but I definately have a few good ones in mind so watch this space.

With that out of the way, it's time to show you my current FAVOURITE eye and lip combosthese are things that I have discovered look lovely layered over eachother and actually take very little effort with a pretty result.
Here's the look:

On the lips I am wearing MAC Dervish lip pencil all over the lip topped with MAC sheen supreme lipstick in supremely confident.

And on the eyes I am wearing Topshop silky cream shadow in Glint covered in MAC sable eyeshadow.
L to R: Mac sable, Topshop Glint, Mac supremely confident, Mac Dervish.

The thing I love most about this look is that it really is minimum effort. You literally layer the products over eachother and it looks like you've spent real effort doing your makeup.

Also, before I discovered this lip combo I was really stuggling to find a way to use the supremely confident lipstick because it is just too pale alone, but over a pinky/neautral lip liner like dervish I think it looks amazing and makes my lips look really plumped.

What else I have used:
Eyes: Collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer, Illamasqua brow cake-thunder, Mac Nylon e/s (browbone), 17 liquid liner, Rimmel soft kohl-black, Rimmel Lash accelerator mascara.

Face: same concealer, Mac matchmaster foundation-1.0, Bourjois delice de soleil bronzer, 17 peach melba blush, Mac MSF-soft and gentle.

Lips: combo shown.

Thanks for reading!
Hope you havn't forgotten me!

FOTD- pop of colour

So today I felt like keeping it simple with my makeup, not having to spend time blending different eyeshadows together, but I still wanted to retain a pop of colour. So the look I came up with was very simple, the lid eyeshadow was applied standardly up to the crease and the teal colour along the lower lash line was applied with an angled brush, SIMPLES!
I really like the results, and I think this is definatly a look I will wear more of, swapping the colours around. It was so simple to do and gave me the pop of colour that I wanted.
Here's the look:

Face: Bobby brown creamy concealer- porcelain, Mac studio sculpt foundation-NC15, Maybelline dream matte powder- 02 rose ivory, Borjois delice de soleil bronzer-12 light/medium, Mac style blush, Jemma kidd dewy glow radiance cream- Rose gold

Eyes: Illamasqua brow cake-thunder, Mac prep + prime eye-light, Mac eyeshadows: Gleam(lid), All that glitters(outer corner), Nylon (brow bone & corner), Nars eyeshadow duo-misfit (the teal-lower lash line), Rimmel white eyeliner, Rimmel lash accelerator mascara.

Lips: Elf conditioning lip balm- mellow melon.

Hope you like!

FOTD- first attempt at contouring!

Bronzer is something I have altogether avoided in the past, mostly because of my pale complextion and I can never seem to get it to work for me. Since beauty blogging I have become more aware of 'contouring' with bronzer and have decided it's high time I gave it a try. Nothing too dramatic mind you, I am a beginner (and I still havn't worked out if I like bronzer)
But here's my FOTD with an attempt of a bit of light contouring on the cheekbones (not that I have any):

Products used:
Face: Maybelline pure cover mineral concealer, Barbara Daly bronze glow, Maybelline dream touch blush-apricot, Jemma kidd Dewy glow- rose gold.

Eyes: Illamasqua brow cake- thunder, Bobbi brown concealer-porcelain, Mac prep + prime eye-light, INGLOT eyeshadows: AMC shine 30(brow bone), DS 465(lid), Peal 402 (crease& lower lash line), Pixi gel liner-onyx, Rimmel white eyeliner, Maybelline one by one volum' express mascara.

Lips: Mac- Vegas volt

English rose to Golden godess- Instant tanning experiment!

I was feeling in need of a little colour on my arms today so I popped down to Boots to buy an instant tan (the idea of commiting to actual fake tan scares me). The brand I chose was the Rimmel sun shimmer instant tan in light shimmer. I chose shimmer for an extra bit of glitz.

Soooo when I got home I may have got abit carried away and decided to try it out on my face. It was origionally a joke to make myself look like a member of TOWIE but I surprisingly liked the result haha. My housemate Emillie was getting jeal so I did the same for her ;)

Rimmel sun shimmer instant tan light shimmer: 24hr, wash off (phew!)
Me & Emillie before (last night before going out) look relatively pale
Us now! would ya look at that glow haha. Also both wearing Mac style blush, Jemma kidd dewy glow-rose gold and Topshop lipstick-ohh la la

bronzed Emillie.......

and moi!
Our housemate Jack said we look like English roses turned golden godesses (I think he was being sarcastic, but nevermind!) Hence the title.

Now I don't know if this is a look I'll be rocking all the time as I quite like my pastey little face but maybe on holiday.

I'm in Essex bitch do do do do do do do.......

Celeb makeup look- Rhianna 'what's my name'

I have never considered myself the biggest Rhianna fan, as her music isn't particularly to my taste, but there's something about her song 'what's my name' that I just cant shake! What made me love the song more is when I watched the video and saw the lovely makeup look she was sporting. If you've seen the video doubtless you noticed the makeup too as it is so pretty, girly and fresh.
(screenshots if you havn't:)

I tried my best to take decent screenshots from the music vid so I hope you get the idea. A very pretty lilac eye and pink lip.

Here are pictures of my attempt:
Sorry if the light doesn't show the colours very well, I'm still getting to grips with all the settings on my new camera.

Heres what I used:
Face
-Mac studio fix fluid- NW 15
-Maybelline mineral pure cover concealer- 02 natural
-MUA blusher- shade 1
-Benefit that gal brightening face primer

Eyes
-Benefit eyebrow pencil- medium
-A Pixi pearly white eyeshadow on brow bone
-Urban decay eyeshadow- Asphyxia (all over lid and under eye)
-Collection 2000 colour intense solo- 12 playful punk (mixed in with asphyxia)
-Pixi gel liner- Onyx (very thin line on lid lash line)
-Rimmel white eyeliner (waterline)
-Mac plush lash mascara

Lips
-Mac viva glam gaga lipstick
-Benefit Life on the A list lipgloss

Did you notice this look of Rhianna's yourself?
If so did you like it?

January favourites

From top left to bottom right:

1. Ghd opulence mask for colour treated hair- This mask is gorgeous smelling, I wouldnt even know hot to describe the smell but its yummy and makes my hair probably the softest its ever been, managing also to retain my dyed hair colour. love.

2.Ghd guardian shampoo for colour treated hair- also lovely smelling with a pear-like scent. Makes my hair soft enough to go without conditioner

3.Superdrug vitamin illuminating moisture cream- I've seen this product praised all over beauty blogs, and for good reason. There is a lovely pearly sheen to this, perfect for a foundation base or even alone. Nice coconut scent, and at around £2.50 you can't go wrong!

4. Vaseline cocoa butter- lovely smell and works well. My current go to lip conditioner. (see soft sweet lips post)

5.Rimmel 5 in 1 topcoat and base coat- Not sure what the 5 in 1 means, as it is only a topcoat and base coat, but as those two it works brilliantly. Reasonable price and stops nails from chipping very well.

6.Mac pro longwear lipcreme in prolong- Perfect red lip colour, stays on very well and even when it fades it fades into a nice colour.

7.Mac dazzleglass cream in radiant jewels- I am a fan of the scent and creamy texture of the dazzleglass creams, and this one is my favourite. Lovely red colour and I like coating it on top of prolong for a bit of glossy glamour.

8. Benefit back to the fuschia and 24K from the All you need is gloss kit- all three of the double ended glosses in this kit were lovely wearable colours but this one was my favourite and I often have it my everyday handbag. The size is also the perfect size to take in a small bag ona night out, with two colours that could be worn in the day or night. I have discovered that back to the fuschia looks lovely over Mac Virgin Isle.

9. Mac 187 brush (from tartan tale brush set)- Love this brush and perfect size to take out in handbag to top up with MSF or blush through the day.

10. Mac cream colour base in Virgin Isle- There has also been a lot of blogger hype over this product and again for good reason. Amazing bright coral colour looks lovely on cheeks and lips (see small mac & benefit haul post) I know this is hard to get hold of at the moment because its in such high demand, but hang in there and keep looking!

11. Mac mineral eyeshadow duo in Odd couple- I know I'm late on this one but I got it for christmas and am loving it. Lovely two colours, both can be worn together or on separate looks.

What are some of your January favourites?

Super xmas haul/ 2010 faves

First of all I would like to wish you all a happy New Year! May it be filled with gorgeous makeup and beauty products.
And second of all I would like to appologise for being a lazy/distracted blogger over the Christmas period, I have had lots of posts in mind but either can't find my memory card or have been away or working. And this all stops now. I am going to fill the rest of my christmas holiday with lots of blogging to show off all my pretty new makeup and other beauty products.
As I said there was so much I wanted to write about but got distracted so this is going to be sort of a 2 in 1 blog. Firstly I am going to show you all my cosmetic-related christmas prezzies (which i should have done a week ago) and hauled items then i'll go onto a post inspired by my friend Kelsey's latest post...my 2010 favourites. Hope this is not too much to take in!
First of all here is the lovely Lush (& other things) hamper I found waiting for me xmas morning from santa/mummy
Amazing isn't it?!

Secondly Here are the makeup prezzies that were gifts from my boyfriend and dad:

From left to right: Mac prolong wear lipcrme- prolong, Mac pearlglide eyeliner-petrol blue, Mac lipglass- radiant dazzleglass, Mac dazzleglass- funtabulous, Mac mineral eyeshadow trios & duo- blue my mind, odd couple, style influencer, Mac blush- style, Mac studio fix fluid- NW15, Mac plush lash mascara, eyelash curlers, maybelline pure matte powder, Rimmel nail treat top coat and base coat, Rimmel soft kohl-white, Benefit all you need is gloss kit, Mac tartan tale brush kit

And here are the things I bought myself, most of them sale things but some just damn good deals!

from top/left to right:

-All Lush xmas bits were half price and although i clearly have enough, i couldnt resist these 3!, This pixi eyeshadow palette cost me £20 which i think is pretty good value, 3 makeup acadamy things, each item was only £1 and superdrug has a 3 for 2 offer across all cosmetics at the moment, the two pixi fairy dust's were only £1 each in the sale, And lastly a barry m blush 'cause i love the colour!

And these beauties have been my 2010 favourites:

From left to right (in no particular order):

  1. Mac tartan tale lustre lipstick- cut a caper: love this colour, great for every day wear.
  2. Mac mineralize skin finish- soft and gentle: I cannot praise this product enough, it gives a gorgeous glow and I will not stop reccomending it to people.
  3. Maybelline mineral concealer- After years of searching I have settled on this concealer. Its the perfect colour for my skin, a nice formula and cheap
  4. Mac venemous villains mineralize eyeshadow- she who dares: I was so excited when this first came out, because as you can see the colours are gorgeous and glittery. My justification for buying this is because I am a student (and you know all about the student nightlife) it will get a lot of wear on nights out, and that it has.
  5. Benefit eyebrow pencil- medium: This is the first brow pencil Ive ever had but it works very well for me. The colour matches, it goes on nicely and stays and (i hope) looks good. The only downer to this is that ive been through so many of it in the year and at £14 it is a tad pricier than i would like
  6. Mac eye kohl- smoulder. If you are going to have one black eyeliner-make it this one. It stays put and is perfect for smudging (again, good for smokey eyes on nights out)
  7. My two Mac pearlglide eyeliners in Lord it up and Undercurrant- I love these to death. They are lovely and smooth going on and once set they stay very well. Not to mention the gorgeous colours.

Thanks for reading!
