1960's inspired makeup look: Edie Sedgwick!

So I was feeling particularly experimental this evening and decided to give myself a 60's makeover! I am basing it on the look of the gorgeous Edie Sedgwick and watched the Pixiwoo tutorial for a little help, changing the products according to the ones I own.
Heres the Pixiwoo tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_MFaEYados
And Heres origional Edie:

Even though this picture Is in black and white I'm sure you can see that Edie certainly wasn't afraid of caking it on! Her look was all about flawless skin and big, dramatic eyes.

My Recreation: (please ignore any ugly hair or clothes, it is 11pm and I'm in my Pjs (apart from the 1st photo where I donned a 60's-ish dress for effect :)

Overall I LOVEEE this look and am really proud of the lines I managed to create. I wish the it was more wearable cause I'd wear it every day! Considering trying it on a night out to see the reaction I get..

Products used:

Face: Mac Studio fix fluid- NW15, Collection 2000 lasting wear concealer- 1 Fair, Maybelline dream matte powder- 02 rose ivory, Mac beauty powder- Oh so fair

Eyes: Mac eyebrow pencil- spiked, Sleek primer palette- white primer, a Pearly white pixi eyeshadow, Mac mineralize eyeshadow trio- Blue my mind (the black), Rimmel soft eye kohl- 071 pure white, Pixi gel liner- Onyx, Sleek lengthen & volumise mascara

February Favourites

February is my favourite month anyway (apart from december!) because my birthday is in february, and you know what that means..lots nice prezzies and lots of stuff to try and review
So here are my favourite products from my favourite month:

-Soap and Glory: Righteous butter, Flake away, Hand food & clean on me shower gel.

-Superdrug vitamin E illuminating moisture cream.

I have always loved the smell of soap and glory products but have never owned any...untill my birthday! my housemates got me the three miniatures (butter, flake away & hand food) and Ive been using them daily and loving the smells and results. I purchased the showergel today for £5 something cause I want to smell like soap and glory allll the time!

I've talked about the superdrug moisturiser before and no doubt I will again. This is a repurchase as I ran out of the last one. Perfect moisturiser for a lovely smelling morning glow

- Lush American cream conditioner

This is not a recent favourite, I have loved this ever since I smelt it on my friend Kelsey's (http://glitterandgloss.blogspot.com/) hair in AS level psychology and couldn't stop sniffing her for the rest of the lesson! Over those years ive used all kinds of conditioners but this is always the one that I rely on when I want lovely smelling hair..and I always get smell compliments with this one.

From left to right: Mac MSF- soft and gentle, Mac powder blush- Style, Collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer- 1 fair, Natural collection lashlength mascara, Mac eyeshadow quad: shroom, all that glitters (sorry about the flash, woodwinked, twinks.

In the last couple of weeks I've had a lot of essays and work and my skin and eyes have been suffering from tiredness and soreness. Because of this in the last week I've been using as little product as possible. The products I have settled on for a simple, natural healthy look are the ones above. I love my new eyeshadow quad!!!

Topshop eyeshadow mousse- Glint (FOTD)

I have one lipgloss from the Topshop makeup collection, but other than that I'm not too familiar with Topshop makeup, so when I saw the new 'sandstorm' collection online yesterday I decided to pop down to my local Topshop to have a look. The collection looked pretty standard (liquid eyeliners, lipglosses etc) but the one thing that wasn't so standard was the Eyeshadow mousse. There were two colours, Glint and Tundra, Glint being a gorgeous shimmery chocolate colour. I liked the colour and was intruiged about the mousse element, so I made the purchase.

I tried out the mousse yesteday and am wearing it now and have to say I am very impressed. The colour is lovely and it blends in nicely just like an eyeshadow. There is no creasing so far and I can't imagine there will be from the feel of it. The colour reminds me of a browner version or Urban decay Smog, so I applied a layer of Smog eyeshadow over the top today.
Left: Topshop mousse-Glint, Right: Urban decay e/s- Smog

What else i'm wearing:
Face:
Maybelline mineral concealer- 02 natural, Mac powder blusher-style, Mac MSF- soft and gentle
Eyes: Mac brow pencil- spiked, Topshop eyeshadow mousse- glint, Urban decay eyeshadow- smog, Mac pearlglide eyeliner-Lord it up, Mac plush lash mascara
Lips: Benefit lipgloss- Almost famous
All in all I really like the Topshop eyeshadow mousse, and I might even go back to get it in the other colour.

Coral collecting

I only have a small amount of corals in my makeup collection but I have noticed that recently, the coral/orangey products are the ones im always reaching for. This may be as im feeling a bit run down with alot of uni work and I think the coral colours are helping to brighten up my face a in a more interesting way than perhaps pinks do. I am also loving brighter corals and oranges with evening looks (e.g Mac virgin isle creme colour base & collection 2000 lasting colour lipstick in 11 orange punch).
Here is my modest collection of corals, which I have a feeling will be growing larger very soon...

From top left to bottom right:

1. Benefit georgia

2. Pop glitter- 18

3. Collection 2000 lasting colour lipstick- 11 Orange punch

4. Mac tartan tale lipstick- Cut a caper

5. Topshop lipglaze- Tropic (only £1!)

6. Mac dazzleglass- Smile

7. Benefit silky powder eyeshadow- shallow

8. Mac cream colour base- Virgin isle

9.Mac powder blush- style

Do you guys have any favourite coral/orange products at the moment?

Sleek primer palette- pics & swatches

Some of you may have been aware of the new sleek palette being brought out today (though I wasn't..I just stumbled upon it in superdrug today) and that is what I am here to show you today.

I've been meaning to try the sleek palettes for a while and I thought what better way to start than with the new primer palette. (cost £6.99, same as the other sleek palettes I think)

Initial thoughts:
Very exciting. pretty colours, although the colour names make no sense at all..they seem to be all jumbled up on the sheet (you will see what I mean)

There will be pics & a review to follow when I have had a chance to try the palette properly :)
Now you can see what I mean about the names. The green one being called peach? If you mix the names around to the right colours they do seem to make sense.
Flash on. I am most excited for the green, brown and orange :)

Keep posted for a review :)
Did any of you manage to pick up this palette?

Valentines FOTD and FOTN

So this valentines day was abit of a strange one for me.. I spent the day in the library doing essay reading..(shakespeares sonnets if you must know.. fitting I suppose) and in the evening me and my boyfriend were supposed to go for a romantic meal we had prebooked, but in true student fashion we ended up getting chinese and going clubbing instead lol.
Even though the day was only spent in the library, I still felt the need to do a little valentines day look, which I course vamped up in the evening.
Here are my two looks:

As you can see this is quite a subtle, girly pink look which I think was suitable for valentines day time :)

Face: primed with superdrug vitamin E illuminating moisture cream, Maybelline mineral concealer- 02 natural, Mac venemous villains beauty powder- oh so fair, Benefit "that gal" face primer.

Eyes: Mac brow pencil- spiked, Mac prep + prime eye-light, a pearly white shadow from my pixi palette, Urban decay e/s- shotgun, Rimmel kohl liner- 071 pure white, Pixi gel liner- Onyx, Mac plush lash mascara

Lips: Mac viva glam gaga lipstick

Evening:

I dont know if you can see from these two pics but I put a line of gold glitter liner along the outside of the catseye of the black liner.

Face: Mac studio fix fluid- NW15, Maybelline mineral concealer, Mac MSF- soft and gentle, Barry M blusher- red (a tiny bit of).

Eyes: Mac brow pencil- spiked, Mac prep + prime eye-light, A very light creamy gold shadow from pixi palette, Mac mineral eyeshadow duo- odd couple (the gold), Urban decay eyeshadow- midnight cowboy strikes again, Pixi gel liner- onyx, Mac kohl pencil- smoulder, 17 starry eyes glitter liner- stardust, Mac plush lash mascara

Lips: Maybelline moisture extreme lip liner- 56 red glamour, Mac pro longwear lipcreme- prolong.

I hope you all had a lovely valentines day.

Collection 2000 lasting colour lipsticks- pics & swatches

I only have a couple of these lipsticks, but the couple I have are brill and I am here to praise those two. I stumbled upon the 1st of these lipsticks When I went into Boots searching for a cheap alternative for Mac's Up the amp lipstick. The cheap alernative I found was a collection 2000 lasting colour lipstick in 10 Berry blast, and I must say the colour is an exact match.

The second was the one I purchased today when looking for a cheaper version of Mac's Morange, and again the collection 2000 version i found, 11 Orange Punch is another very close match.
Unfortuately I dont have any Mac swatch comparisons cause the whole point of me buying the collection 2000 ones is so I didnt have to pay the mac pricetag, so you'll just have to trust me on this one...(or look up swatches on the internet)
For £2.99 I cannot fault these lipsticks, they are lasting colour, and they really do last. They apply easily and have quite a nice scent.
Here are some pics:
No flash- the lipsticks look brighter in reality

Left- 10 berry blast, Right-11 orange punch

11- orange punch

10- Berry blast

Have any of you tried the collection 2000 lasting colour lipsticks?

Any other cheap alternatives you can reccomend?

Tiny Peacocky haul- swatches & pics

If you have seen the prices of the new Mac peacocky collection I'm sure you will understand why I only got one item from the collection. Seeing as I was only getting one thing, I wanted to make a wise choice. My choice was the kissable lipcolour in scan-delicious.
My reasons for choosing this shade were:
-I read on temptalia that the darker/brighter shades had more colour payoff and seemed better quality
-If I was going to spend £16 on a lipgloss I wanted it to be a bloody noticeable shade!

I feel I made a sensible choice :) Here are the pictures:

Please dont mind the face/hair i have no other makeup on!

Overall I am impressed with the new formula. As you can probably see it actually does look like more of a lipstick than a lipgloss on which I am pleased about.

What do you think of the shade I chose?

Any of you make any peacocky purchases?
